Dear Players & Families
Season 2009 is well underway with last weekend seeing the completion of Round 6. We hope all the players are enjoying their football and having fun playing for the Dingley Junior Football Club.
The Social and Fundraising Committee:
The Social and Fundraising Committee has set a couple of dates for functions during the season. These are:
Sunday 5th July - GOLF DAY - $70 per head
Friday 17th July - TRIVIA NIGHT (venue TBA)
Paul Murphy is organising the annual Golf Day, this is usually a fantastic day out for you budding Tiger Woods out there. The game will be played at Berwick-Montuna Golf Club then returning to the Sports Club for a barbecue lunch. There will be a sheet on the noticeboard in the Sports Club where you can put your names down and please try and pay your $70 to Paul before the event.
The Trivia Night last year was a huge success and we are looking to have a repeat performance this year. However it is a lot of work putting these events together so this year we need a couple of representatives from each team to come forward and help our hardworking Social committee. Tickets for the Trivia Night will be on sale soon. If you can help out, in any way, please contact Julie Foster – 9551 0490 / 0419 360992. Also if anyone is able to donate raffle prizes etc. it would be most appreciated.
Shorts:
As you are aware we have had a few issues with our shorts this year which have resulted in us having to find a new supplier. The Merchandise Committee are looking into alternatives and we are sure that these problems will be resolved soon. In the meantime, please bear with us and we apologise for any inconvenience. Thankfully most people seem to have been sorted out for this season.
Committee:
We had a committee meeting last week and we discussed the fact that we need to get some new faces onto the Junior Committee. A lot of us have been on it for a long time and some no longer have boys playing in the juniors. The club is really growing and this committee have worked very hard over the last few years getting it to where it is now but we really ask all you parents to consider joining us before some of us move on. If you are interested please contact Beverley Watson – 0404 020495 to find out more.
MSJFL Interleague:
Each year the MSJFL have selection trials for boys in the Under 13, Under 14 and Under 15 age groups and these trials result in Interleague teams which compete against other leagues. These Interleague games take place over the Queen’s Birthday Weekend and that is why there are no MSJFL games that weekend. We have representatives in both the 13’s & 14’s - they are:
Under 13 - ANDY DIN
Under 14 - JACK GRANGE & LUKE HEYWOOD
Under 14 (Metro) - NATHAN FREEMAN
Andy, Jack and Luke are off to Adelaide to play against their Interleague teams. They will be travelling by bus with all the other boys in the team and staying with billets when they get there. It will be a great experience for them and everyone at Dingley wishes them all the best for a great game and a fantastic time. Nathan has been selected for the Metro team who will be staying in Melbourne but they will be travelling around a bit playing three games against some of the other Interleague teams from other leagues in Victoria.
The Under 15 selections are still going and we still have two boys in the running – Christopher Mangoni and Robert Tunbridge. We keep our fingers crossed for them with the final cut on Friday.
The Dingley Junior Football Club wish to congratulate them all!!
Fantastic effort – well done.
Match Reports:
Match report evenings are going well and teams are taking advantage of putting on some food to make some cash for their team. There are still a few spots left so please see the noticeboard in the Sports Club if you are interested. Just one point though, please keep the noise down while the coaches are giving their reports.
Anyway, I think that is all the news for now. I hope you enjoy this first Newsletter and find it interesting. I will have a copy placed on the website too. From the committee we hope you continue to have a good season and enjoy your footy and to all our coaches and support staff a big thank you for a job well done so far.
