It was back to Souter Oval for the much anticipated clash against Caulfield. As one of the front runners it was to be our first real test for a few weeks in front of the home crowd. Fine weather welcomed the U14’s and their supporters; however, the oval was still a disappointment with a boggy centre and a sparse covering of grass on the outer.

A bleak windswept Albert Park welcomed the U14’s for their game against South Melbourne this week. Jackets, coats and gloves were certainly the order of the day for the brave mums who made the trek to watch Dingley overpower South Melbourne.

After our second long break for the season the U14’s returned to Souter Oval to face an underrated Murrumbeena. Our last game at home was played in a near quagmire, but things had certainly changed for this week. Parts of the centre had set like concrete, with the opposition even commenting on the state of the ground.

It was a real local contest this week for our return game against Cheltenham at Le Page Park. The ground, despite consistent rain over the weekend was in remarkably good condition. Winter sunshine made the viewing conditions perfect for the spectators, however, the damp ground made handling the ball increasingly difficult.

Dingley 8-14-62 DEF St Kilda City 4-5-29Round 9 - Match Report – 20/06/10

Captained by our MSJFL Representatives Andy Din and Adam Lloyd Dingley overpowered St Kilda City to win 8-14-62 to 4-5-29. This was certainly the game the team was looking forward to as St Kilda City not only beat us in the first half of the season, but was also sitting second on the ladder.

The start of the second half of the season saw Dingley play Caulfield at Packer Park. It was back to real Melbourne winter football with the day being wet and overcast with intermittent rain. However this didn’t deter the team who Captained by Ryan McLean went on to win against a determined Caulfield. The coaching staff predicted a strong display by Caulfield who were placed second on the ladder.

Another early start at Souter Oval saw a large turnout of parents and supporters cheer the team to victory over South Melbourne. Captained by Liam Considine the boys got off to our now trademark strong start. However, the first goal didn’t come easily as South Melbourne proved themselves to be worthy opponents not lacking in skill.

This week, Coached by Garry Fletcher, Dingley once again started off full of running against Murrumbeena at Murrumbeena Park. With our Captain for the week, Adam Lloyd winning the centre bounce the boys took the advantage and managed the first goal of the game with Jackson Fletcher-Young kicking truly from the forward pocket. Not quite the “Richo Snap” but a great goal all the same.

On Mother’s Day the team had an early start at the Peanut Farm, in St.Kilda against our arch rivals St. Kilda City. Captained by Andy Din everybody was expecting a strong showing by St.Kilda who was second on the ladder to Dingley.

Despite the early start our third game was in front of a large home crowd at Souter Oval. After two strong performances the crowd was expecting a great result. They were certainly not disappointed with a strong win over an under-rated South Melbourne. Even though South Melbourne hadn’t won a game this season they certainly threw everything at the boys who responded by keeping them to only one goal in the first half of the game.
