Our first game for the year at Souter Oval was always going to be interesting to see how our boys would handle the bigger ground. They were told to stay out of the centre-wicket mud, hold their positions and use the wind to their advantage. We won the toss and went with the wind in the first quarter.

Dingley ventured to Ormond for the first time in a match we were looking forward to as Ormond won our division lightening premiership last season. It seemed, however, that most of their team that day were second year players as this was a different team consisting of first year players who were no match for the 15 game veteran Dingoes.

Our local derby started with the Mustangs more determined to win the football and it showed on the scoreboard with them scoring the only goal of the first quarter. The second quarter was more even with 1 goal each mainly due to our determined defence that forced the opposition to also score 4 behinds.

This was our first home game of the year against a young Ajax team in their first year of football. From the first bounce it was obvious that our boys were bigger, faster and more experienced than the opposition.

This was our first game of the year and our first game in East Division against a team that we had a 1 win / 1 loss ratio with last year. We started with terrific running through the middle from David Cowell with great bumping support from Mitch Newman and Jordan Dudfield. Our forwards of Billy Peake and Jeramie Simmons had the odd shot at goal that eventuated into 3 behinds for the quarter. The sharks also managed 3 behinds due to excellent defence from David Schaeche & Jack Bertoli.
