Dingley supporters complete the famous Kokoda Track in New Guinea....
In early June, some of our own Dingley supporters completed the famous Kokoda Track in New Guinea.
The idea originated with Dave Meeve late last year, [over a few cool drinks] and before long he had recruited nine others from the Football Club to pull on the walking boots and hit the hills in preparation.
The group consisted of Dave Meeve, John Wilson, Brendan O’Rourke, Pat Bowen, Adrian Hollis, John Allen, Brian Lovelock, Paul Bevan and Brian Edwards. If you know the group, you will appreciate that there are not many youngsters amongst them, but each, to a man, found it a fantastic, though difficult experience and made us all appreciate the brave young men who gave their lives so that we could enjoy what we have today.
Some of Dave’s photos are included here for your amusement.
In a few days, Peter Robinson and his dad are also making the trek.
All at the Dingley footy club wish you a safe trip.
