Even the use of the most intricate and multi-syllabic words in Webster's unabridged Dictionary can't obfuscate the fact that the game against Ashwood was a pretty lacklustre affair. Rather than prevaricate with platitudes, suffice to say that a structurally experimental Dingoes line-up accounted for spirited opposition with a minimum of fuss.
The injection of youth continues to reap rewards in the absence of up to five players who could be considered walk-up starts in our optimal senior side. We should derive confidence (not cockiness) from this ability to keep winning despite not having a full list to choose from, and selection will be hard-fought come finals time.
Luke was outstanding, debutant Tim did enough to suggest Ford would be Holden his spot, and Robbie M's vice-like marking and unerring goal kicking leaves Quinny unfussed about extending his current period as non-playing coach.
Dazza's transmogrification from high-flying bit player to dour defender is now almost complete. What used to be two giant testicles reaching skyward for the impossible mark is now more likely to be a spoiling punch, and such is his new-found level of discipline that his specky's are now taken on the chest.
There was no paucity of other good players, among them Mainy, Bones and the beautiful to watch "Lefty" Vinen.
Reserves coach Sess was pleased with the increased endeavour of his charges last week, a comfortable victory made possible by his own good form along with that of Wizard, Gilly, Adesy, Ringa, Johnny Park, Shuka, Barrel and Jace Wallis. Multiple goals to the ever-reliable Hughesy, Parky senior got two, Laragy, Sessler, Gill and Sikora one each.
Today we welcome Black Rock to the Den. Remembering that the last time we played them featured more ambulance than ambience, perhaps we can supply some of the latter today by exhorting our own "rockers", Leigh, Tony and Gordon, to strike up the band. Special early request from the coach, who wants to hear "Up on the roof".
