4 Weeks in and the ladder is starting to take shape. For the players & supporters at the Den, we are hoping that it will be the same at the end of the year, but we all know that there is a lot of hard work ahead to achieve this.

Hampton made there way down to Souter Oval last Saturday, but an undermanned Hammers couldn’t match the Dingoes fast running game and a stellar debut by young Luke Bartholomew. Never has a kid come along looking so ready for Senior football. Good luck in the future Luke!! Pitty staked his claim to oust Morgs from the No.1 Ruck position with a BOG performance. Steve Vinen showed he is running into form, “Poppa” Feehan provided the customary punch from the backline, and Danny Atkin continues to do Matty Scarlett impersonations with his forays into the midfield and forward line.

It was unfortunate that the reserves for Hampton could only manage 14 players, however a big thank you and well done to Mark Turcarelli and Nick Hall for putting their hands up to lend a hand to the away sides. It’s great to see this happen and rest assured Turkers was still going hard at the ball and the boys! Spudda, Browny, Parky, Jordan Laragy and Kent Waring were all good contributors in a one-sided match for the twos. Shannon Hughes’ 10 goals ensures that he won’t be finished telling everybody about it till he’s ready to kick the dew off the grass in the early encounter today.

Our visit to Moorabbin this Saturday is sure to see some hard attacking football played. Last years encounter was a good start to the year for the boys and we all know a year is a long time in football. Hopefully we can leave Widdop cres with the points.

The whole football club was chuffed by the very kind note sent to us by the Black Rock player who unfortunately broke his leg in our match last week. In it he thanked our trainers and supporters for the treatment he received. Wish you a speedy recovery Allan.

SOCIAL NOTES: According to Barnesy from the SFL Footy Show, news of our Ladies’ Luncheon last week has travelled far and wide, with over 100 potato peelers in attendance. Make sure you’re at the next one. Also pencil in the Comedy Night after the Caulfield game on May 31st. Hope Troy finds his lost identity by then.
